King Township Parks & Facilities Master Plan Update and Trails Master Plan Update

Following extensive community and stakeholder consultation, the final integrated Parks, Trails and Facilities Master Plans—adopted by King Township Council at the Council Meeting on January 12—can now be viewed online.

These plans will serve as an essential roadmap for developing and maintaining a sustainable service network within the community and will shape the future of recreation facilities, parks and trails to the year 2051.

Key highlights include:

Parks Master Plan

• Expand and enhance parkland amenities.
• Strengthen operations, maintenance and asset management.
• Promote innovation, accessibility and community engagement.

Trails Master Plan

• Prioritize localized connectivity and improving existing trails.
• Advance strategic expansion and partnerships.
• Enhance trail operations, maintenance and overall user experience.

Facilities Master Plan

• Modernize and optimize facilities for the community’s needs.
• Strengthen service delivery, staffing and policy frameworks.
• Advance accessibility, sustainability and community engagement.

Following extensive community and stakeholder consultation, the final integrated Parks, Trails and Facilities Master Plans will be brought to Council as information at the Council Meeting on Monday, Jan. 12.

Thank you to everyone who shared your ideas and help shape the future of recreation in King Township! We’re excited to announce that the Draft Parks Master Plan, Draft Facilities Master Plan and Draft Trails Master Plan are now ready for you to explore!

These draft plans are built on months of community input, research, and collaboration with residents, stakeholders, and experts. They set out clear directions and practical steps to guide how we plan, improve and deliver our parks, trails, and recreation facilities – helping us create spaces that bring people together, support healthy living, and strengthen our sense of community.

Your voice continues to matter. Let’s continue the conversation and work together to build a more vibrant, active, and connected King Township.

King Township residents have another opportunity to provide input that will shape future improvements to parks, trails and facilities, and help create the vision for a multi-modal transportation system. A Public Open House will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Zancor Centre, located at 1600 15th Sideroad in King City, regarding the updated Facilities, Parks and Trail Master Plans as well as the newly updated Transportation Master Plan. The community is invited to review the key directions and options for recommendations developed to date, provide feedback and ask questions to Township staff and members of the consulting teams on these projects.

The updated Parks & Facilities Master Plan Update and Trails Master Plan must reflect the needs and priorities of its residents and will be developed through extensive community engagement. Over the course of the project the consulting team will engage a range of sector stakeholders (community groups, public, private, not-for-profit), as well as the public in identifying current needs, issues, and priorities as it relates to developing recreational facilities, parks and trails in the Township.

The project will employ a range of approaches to gather public input including a series of public engagement sessions.
