King Township has updated its Transportation Master Plan (TMP)
Summary of Project
The TMP is a long-term planning document that guides how King will enhance, manage, and invest in its transportation infrastructure to the year 2051. It shapes how people and goods move within the Township and supports sustainable, safe, and efficient travel options for all ages and abilities.
What is a Transportation Master Plan?
A TMP provides a strategic framework for the Township’s transportation system, including:
- Vision and Goals for a multi-modal network
- Recommendations for roads, transit, and active transportation
- Policies to support sustainability and safety
The updated TMP reflects:
- Population growth (to 51,000 by 2051)
- Emerging trends in active transportation, transit, and technology
- Provincial and Regional directions, including Highway 413 and Bradford Bypass
Key Highlights
- Integrated multi-modal network: Roads, transit, cycling, and walking
- Active transportation strategy: Safer, connected sidewalks and bike routes
- Transit improvements: Better links to King City GO and York Region Transit
- Traffic calming and safety measures
- Goods movement strategy balances economic needs with community safety, designating King-Vaughan Road as the preferred truck bypass.
