Update: Our King Official Plan Review Timeline

King Township continues to make strong progress on the Our King Official Plan Review, an important initiative that will guide how our community grows and evolves in the years ahead. As part of our commitment to transparency and thoughtful planning, we are sharing an update on the project timeline.

The Province is currently consulting on ways to simplify and standardize municipal Official Plans. As this work continues, King Township is also responding to new legislation and reviewing growth-related matters that directly influence long-term planning needs. To ensure our updated plan aligns with this evolving provincial direction and reflects local priorities, we are adjusting the timeline for the Official Plan Review.

This additional time will allow us to have thoughtful consideration of these important matters so that we are able to:

Address growth-related matters comprehensively, ensuring our policies support responsible, well-managed development.

Fine-tune policy directions to reflect community priorities and deliver the best outcomes for King Township.

Ensure accuracy, clarity, and long-term effectiveness in all policy areas.

As part of the revised timeline:

A draft Official Plan will be released in late 2026, following the municipal election.

Public consultation will continue into 2027, providing ample opportunities for residents and stakeholders to review and share feedback.

Council adoption of the new Official Plan is targeted for June 2027.

Our goal remains the same: to produce a modern, forward looking Official Plan that addresses the challenges and opportunities important to King residents, strengthens our Villages, protects our environment and rural character, and provides clear direction for sustainable growth.
