Project Update: Join Us at September Open Houses!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Open Houses for the Doctors Lane and Old King Road Neighbourhood Plans Study in September 2024. Your input has been played an important role in shaping the updated Concept Plans for the Study Areas.

We’re excited to share that the next phase of the Neighbourhood Plans Study is now underway and has been integrated into the Official Plan Review. This integration marks a significant step to align and streamline the Neighbourhood Plans Study with broader Township initiatives such as the Official Plan Review.

As part of the Official Plan Review, a series of Discussion Papers have been released on the ⁠Official Plan Review SpeaKING Page. These Papers explore key topics that will shape the future of King, and guide how the Township grows and evolves through to the year 2051.

The Intensification Discussion Paper features updated Concept Plans for both the Doctors Lane and Old King Old Neighbourhoods. Conceptual renderings for each Study Area are also included in this Discussion Paper. In addition, the Implementing Our King Discussion Paper provides an overview of implementation tools including the Community Planning Permit System, and details preliminary policy directions for implementing a future CPPS By-law.

Public Open Houses will be held in each Village in September 2025 to coincide with the release of Discussion Papers. Held in a drop-in format, the Open Houses will offer an interactive environment for community members to explore key discussion topics. Attendees are invited to visit the series of themed stations, covering topics based on the Discussion Papers, including Intensification.

These stations provide a valuable opportunity to review the updated Concept Plans, learn about preliminary policy directions, ask questions, and share feedback with Township staff.

  1. King City

  • Date: Thursday, September 18, 2025 | 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Location: Zancor Centre, 1600 15th Sideroad, King City

  1. Nobleton

  • Date: Monday, September 22, 2025 | 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Location: Dr. William Laceby Community Centre and Arena, 15 Old King Road, Nobleton

The project timeline for the Neighbourhood Plans Study has been revised to reflect its integration with the Official Plan Review. Once the Official Plan Review is completed, drafting of the CPPS By-law portion of the Neighbourhood Plans Study will commence.
