The Community Improvement Plan for King City, Nobleton and Schomberg is an exciting action-oriented program that is being used to promote beautification, property improvements and economic development in the three communities. A Community Improvement Plan is a document that is prepared in accordance with Section 28 of Ontario’s Planning Act. This tool is commonly used by municipalities to promote community revitalization.

The King Township Community Improvement Plan currently focuses on making grants available to property owners and businesses in the core areas of King City, Nobleton and Schomberg. The Plan includes programs to promote business façade/signage improvements; landscaping/property improvements; accessibility/cycling; as well as other matters. Now that the Community Improvement Plan is approximately 6 years old, there is a need to review its relevance and effectiveness. In particular, there is an opportunity to make grants available within other areas of the Township, including the Hamlets and rural/agricultural areas. There is also an opportunity to consider grants that will help businesses adapt to the current pandemic and future trends. This Review will result in an amendment to the Plan, including tweaks as well as potential new programs.

    King Township's Final proposed Community Improvement Plan and Community Improvement Project Area Maps are now available. The documents can be found in the Document Library on the right-hand side of this page.

    A Statutory Public Planning Meeting will be held by Council on Monday, March 1, 2021 to provide the public with an opportunity to understand and comment on the proposed revisions to the Plan. For more information on how to participate in the Public Planning Meeting, please review the Notice, which can also be found in the Document Library on the right-hand side of the page.

    Join us for a Virtual Public Open House!
